Invoice Bot vs Stripe invoice reminders
Stripe sends reminder emails for unpaid invoices on a schedule you choose (before, on or after the due date), and it is the natural choice if you already take payments through Stripe Invoicing. Invoice Bot ($9/month) emails your invoice and chases it for you: follow-ups react to whether the client opened the invoice or tapped pay, an AI reads replies and pauses or answers, and reminders go out on weekday mornings in the client's time zone. Clients pay through your own pay link, which can be a Stripe Payment Link.
Side-by-side
| Invoice Bot | Stripe Invoicing reminders | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $9/month with 100 reminders. 100 more for $5. Making an invoice is free. | No fixed fee for Invoicing; Starter is 0.4% per paid invoice (Plus 0.5%), plus Stripe Payments fees (pricing). |
| How the client pays | Your own pay link (Stripe, PayPal or similar) or bank transfer. Money goes straight to you. | Through Stripe: the hosted invoice page and Stripe Payments. |
| When reminders go out | From the due date, every few days (you pick how often and how many), plus follow-ups based on what the client does. | On a schedule you set: before, on or after the due date, from a list of predefined options (docs). |
| Reacts to client actions | Yes. Follows up if the client viewed the invoice but didn't pay, tapped pay but didn't finish, or never opened it. | Stripe's docs say a scheduled reminder is skipped if a payment is already processing (docs). Follow-ups based on opens or clicks are not described in the docs we cite. |
| Client replies | An AI reads replies. If the client promises a date it pauses until then; it can answer simple questions and tells you what they said. | Not described in the reminder docs we cite. |
| Send time | Weekday mornings in the client's time zone. | Not described in the reminder docs we cite. |
| Email wording | Short reminders written by AI for each situation (a standard text is used if AI is off). | Stripe's email, with your branding; you can also customize the invoice template (docs). |
| Marking paid | You mark it paid; reminders stop. The client can also stop reminders for that invoice. | Automatic, because the payment happens in Stripe. Stripe can also auto-reconcile bank transfers (pricing). |
| Card retries & subscriptions | No. Invoice Bot does not charge cards. | Yes: Smart Retries for failed card payments, recurring invoices and subscriptions (docs). |
| Other channels | Email today. WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS and a ready-to-send LinkedIn message are coming soon (not built yet). | Email (per the docs cited). |

How Stripe's invoice reminders work
From Stripe's documentation:
- For one-off invoices, you turn on "Send reminders if a one-off invoice hasn't been paid" in your billing settings, then click "Add reminder" for each reminder and choose a schedule before, on or after the due date (Automatic collection).
- For recurring invoices, there is a separate "Send reminders if a recurring invoice hasn't been paid" setting, with a set of predefined timing options (Send customer emails).
- If a payment is already processing when a reminder is due, Stripe skips that reminder (Automatic collection).
- You can also resend an invoice by hand from the Dashboard or with the API (Send customer emails).
- Stripe's automatic collection also includes Smart Retries for failed card payments and failed-payment emails (Automatic collection).
In short: a reliable, built-in, schedule-based reminder system that lives where your payments already are.
How Invoice Bot's reminders work
- Make an invoice (free, no signup), add your pay link, and turn on reminders ($9/month).
- Invoice Bot emails the invoice to your client. From the due date it sends a reminder every few days, up to the number you choose, until you mark it paid.
- It also watches what the client does: if they viewed the invoice but didn't pay, it sends a friendly "any questions?" note; if they tapped pay but didn't finish, it checks whether the payment worked; if they never opened it, it resends with a fresh subject.
- An AI reads the client's replies. If they say "paying Friday", it pauses until then and tells you. If they say it's paid or raise a problem, it holds reminders until you look.
- Reminders go out on weekday mornings in the client's time zone, at most one a day.
Which one should you use?
Stripe's reminders are a good fit if
- You already bill clients through Stripe Invoicing and want reminders in the same place.
- You charge cards on file, run subscriptions, or want failed-payment retries.
- You want payments marked paid and reconciled automatically.
Invoice Bot is a good fit if
- You're a freelancer or small business sending a handful of invoices and want the chasing done for you.
- Your clients pay by PayPal, bank transfer, or a Stripe Payment Link, not only through Stripe invoices.
- You'd like follow-ups that react to whether the client opened the invoice or tapped pay, and replies handled for you.
- You prefer a flat $9/month with no percentage of each invoice.
Can I use both?
Yes. You can put a Stripe Payment Link on the invoice as the pay link. The client pays through Stripe; Invoice Bot handles the emails and follow-ups.

FAQ
Does Stripe send automatic reminders for unpaid invoices?
Yes. According to Stripe's docs, you can turn on reminders for unpaid one-off invoices and for recurring invoices in your billing settings, and choose when they go out: before, on or after the due date. Source: https://docs.stripe.com/invoicing/automatic-collection
Can Stripe reminders change based on whether the client opened the invoice?
Stripe's reminder docs describe reminders sent on a schedule you choose, and skipping a reminder when a payment is already processing. They do not describe follow-ups based on whether the client opened the invoice or clicked pay. Invoice Bot does this.
Is Invoice Bot a replacement for Stripe?
Not for payments. Invoice Bot does not process payments or charge cards. Your client pays you through your own pay link, which can be a Stripe Payment Link, PayPal, or bank details. Invoice Bot sends the invoice and the reminders.
How much does Invoice Bot cost compared to Stripe Invoicing?
Invoice Bot is $9 a month for 100 reminders, plus $5 for each extra 100, with no cut of your invoices. Stripe Invoicing has no fixed fee; its Starter plan is 0.4% per paid invoice plus Stripe Payments fees, per Stripe's pricing page (https://stripe.com/invoicing/pricing).
Can I use Invoice Bot with Stripe?
Yes. Add a Stripe Payment Link as the pay link on your invoice. The client pays through Stripe, and Invoice Bot handles the emails and follow-ups.
Does Invoice Bot send reminders by WhatsApp or SMS?
Not yet. Reminders are sent by email today. WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS and a ready-to-send LinkedIn message are planned but not built.
